8.1 French slangs • Mec · Guy/Bro/Dude (informal)

  • Meuf · Girl/Woman (informal)
  • Bisous · Cheek kisses/kisses in general. Typical for many greetings in France. It can also be said as a goodbye for close friends.
  • Wesh · A colloquial interjection that loosely means “wow!”
  • MDR · Mort de rire - Dying of laughter. It is used like LOL in English internet slang. --- • JSP · Je ne sais pas - I don’t know. No need to be macho, everyone doesn’t know the answer at some point.
  • TQT · Ne t’inquiètes pas- Don’t worry about it.
  • PTN · Putain - Fuck. Not like, a sexual way, but as an exclamation. For example, “Did you see the accounting grades? Putain! We failed.”
  • 1A · First-year or first-year students. --- • Sète · A biweekly/monthly party at one of the largest clubs in the region open only to students of our university. It is organized by the student council.
  • UV · Unité Vitale, a shared apartment area with roommates. These are common at Le Parc ALEGresidence.
